Ok so the last two images are the sketches for this week. The top sketch is based off the ideas of Peter Behrens. Ut uses a grid that i made and focuses onthe rectangular shapes of the era. The second one is just more of an idea that needs to be executed better. But mostly it deals with the ideas of futurism and the use of text as imagery. I made pens just out of the letters. Kinda simple but it gets the job done. Then the top two are posters i made for the art show they are actually based off the international typographic style i just put them up to get some feedback or whatever.

First off I really like the two posters for the art show! I mean they are simple but really grab your attention. I personally like the black/white/gray scale the most, but the other one is amazing as well (the angles are great). Now to your sketches... I really like how you used a scale for your first design, the angles mixed in with the circles are really interesting. The second drawing is so cool... At first I was like "what is he trying to do?", then I realized once I saw both at the same time that they were pens! Really creative and straight to the point. I was just wondering why the second 'pen' has some letters bigger then the others? Overall, great job!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the first poster! The bright contrasting colors and font layout is perfect. I just think that you should use the same typeface for the heading for the body as well. Try it and see if you like it. Watch the alignment on the body text as well.
ReplyDeleteAs for the projects for this week, when you don't feel comfortable with your art I notice its the one I have a lot more comments on. What might help is to better research your topic. Google an artist from that chapter and see what images pop up. Read some books from the library, it will help you with both the class and your art in the subject for the week.
The first poster design I love a lot. The flow of lines and text together blend well. With Futurism style isn't there a lot more text involved? Maybe that's your problem. I realize its a logo, but it feels so empty and open. Logos should stand alone and be a bit more closed. See what you can do :)
I thought both of your designs for the project were very creative! You're second design with the pens is really awesome, I just agree with Sarah that you shouldn't have made some of the letters bigger on the bottom pen. It kind of threw me off. The top one is also really interesting, there's nothing I really can tell you to fix about it. Good job :D
