Technical Difficulties

I'll have my two designs up shortly. I am waiting for my neighbor to wake up so I can scan! But my first design is based off of the arts and crafts movement. There are a lot of flourishes and focus on nature design. The overall shape is actually in eyeball because I am designing design logos. I will personally say I do not really like the final design and will redo it within the next couple of days along with my second one. On that note my second design is a Victorian style with a very symmetrical look with focus on nature. Both of these are sans-serif fonts but if i were to do these on the computer they would be Serif. Both of these designs started with a eyeball and i started working off of that. In the second one I made a flower out of the eye which looks different but interesting. The fonts again are serif fonts. The First design I tried keeping the type a little bit more modern just because i didn't want to be completely pulled into this style. I am really looking forward to the more modern designs and hopefully some better designing! Scanner wasn't the best :/

  1. It's hard to tell which design is which style. I'm going to take a stab at it and say that the first one is art nouveau and the second victorian. I say that, because victorian design was very busy, with many floral and almost midevil patterns, this second design you have is a very busy patterned design. I like the pattern you created, but I feel with that with the text its going to be hard to read. I don't know if that's the exact text you plan on using but you might want to use a bolder or stronger text. Look at some victorian posters for inspiration. Now for the first design I like the design around the logo, but the flower on top (?) seems so... alone? Maybe creating a flower within the pattern around the logo might help, and I'm not sure what the inside design is supposed to be... Also, another suggestion would be to look at specifically Art Nouveau fonts, you want to get as authentic as you can. This isn't about design a logo but designing based on a style. So go to dafont.com and google and see more of the syles that you want to use and find the main characteristics. Good start.

  2. I'm glad that you told us that the sketches were eyeballs because I didn't quite understand what they were at first. I like the design concepts for both; I don't understand the flower on the side for the first one. But I really like the font and swirl decorations on the second one. Good start so far!

  3. I really like what you did with both of the designs. Each of them reflect the styles of victorian and arts and crafts movement. I like the natural and busy feeling of the second one because it truly reflects the Victorian style. It's really a good start and I can't wait to see what you do next!
